‘Türkiye İş Bankası Chess Super Leagu’, one of the most important chess leagues of the world, was held at Ankara Green Park Hotel.
In the tournament played with a 6-table system, 3 players of Darüşşafaka Biofet showed great success by taking the table rank.
Nijat Abasov
GM Nijat Abasov, the captain of Darüşşafaka Biofet Sports Club, came 2nd in the tournament with a great performance at table 1.
Abasov took part in the 2024 World Championship Candidates Tournament at the 2023 Chess World Cup.
Gülenay Aydın achieved success in the women’s category
Another important success in the tournament came from WIM Gülenay Aydın. Aydın achieved 2nd place with a great performance of 8 points on the 5th table, which is known as the women’s category. With this success, the national player has crossed a very important threshold on her way to becoming a grandmaster.
Jan Subelj 3rd in Junior Table
Darüşşafaka Biofet’s Slovenian player Jan Subelj ranked 3rd in the under-20 category. Jan is the 8th highest rated player of Slovenia according to the World Chess Federation (FIDE) system and is a very active player.
